Thank you, we’re delighted that you’d like to help raise funds for vulnerable people living in the world’s poorest places. There are hundreds of ways to raise funds, the important thing is to choose a method that feels right for you.
Whether you run a marathon, host a bake sale, organise a school mufti day or ask for donations on your birthday – there are lots of creative ways you can help support people living with the double disadvantage of poverty and disability.

By partnering with cbm you are helping to raise awareness and vital funds for people living with the double disadvantage of poverty and disability.
Other ways to help:
Presentations to community groups, churches, businesses, schools – contact cbm to organise a presentation either by a cbm representative in person or online. Phone 0800 77 22 64 or email to email@example.com to get in contact.
Conferences – a cbm NZ representative is available to attend conferences that enhance specialist health services, medical care and skills for work in countries where services and community care for disabilities are unavailable or unaffordable.
Do you have time and energy that you’d like to use to help people? Are you keen to upskill, make new friends and have fun? You can play a vital role in our life-changing ministry as a cbm volunteer.
We welcome people of all abilities, skills and time-availability to become part of our team helping us to improve our services, reduce costs and ultimately assist more people in need.
What can you do?
We have different types of roles available in our Albany office – depending on what you are interested in and what your skills are. Can you help with:
- Updating supporter contact details
- Working on a database (computer literacy required)
- Calling new supporters to thank them for giving or to invite them for meetings
- Helping out at cbm supporter meetings
- Small repairs and maintenance
We would also like to hear from you if you live in other areas of New Zealand, to be a point of contact for us with local knowledge about suitable venues which will assist us in organising our supporter meetings in your area.
We welcome assistance with distributing brochures and information about our work in local churches, community groups or places where you are an affiliate.

North Island Engagement Manager
- Join a dynamic team on a global mission
- Provide excellent supporter engagement to delight our valued mid-level and major supporters
- 40 hours per week
The purpose of this role is to encourage and deepen the relationship with existing mid-level and major supporters as well as acquire new mid-level and major supporters, making cbm their favourite charity. The role also supports cbm’s bequest programme.
The role covers the top half of the North Island (excluding Wellington, Manawatu/Wanganui, Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay), and works alongside the South Island Engagement Manager who covers the rest of the country.
Location: Rosedale (Albany), Auckland
Hours: 40 hours per week (with work from home options available)
- Develop and nurture relationships with cbm’s existing mid-level and major supporters, sharing with them how they can change the lives of people with disabilities in the world’s poorest places.
- Actively maximize fundraising opportunities, encouraging increased giving and retention.
- Along with the Engagement Director and other key staff, assist in designing, implementing and growing cbm’s mid-level and major supporter programme, and bequest programme, in selected areas.
- Actively foster new relationships outside of cbm’s current database with the goal to attract new mid-level and major supporters.
- Help strengthen relationship with existing cbm churches as well as with churches outside cbm’s current church base
Person Specification: Knowledge and Experience
- Possess a passion for serving others
- 3+ years excellent supporter engagement experience in a similar role in the charities sector
- High degree of empathy with warm friendly people skills and ability to stay calm under pressure
- Fluent English with strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to check own work.
- Excellent listening skills and the ability to build rapport and be persuasive on the phone.
- MS Office proficient including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Sound administration and organisational skills with good time management
- Fast and accurate keyboard skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise own workload.
- A highly positive and enthusiastic team player.
- Ability to work within a Christian framework and be sensitive to its various expressions across cultures and denominations.
- Church relationship skills would be an added advantage.
You may be someone who is working in a similar role elsewhere, or someone who is currently working in supporter care who would like a step up into this space. Either way we’d love to hear from you!
This role is 40 hours a week, to be worked between 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Board of Trustees: Accountant
cbm New Zealand seeks a qualified person to join our Board of Trustees. This would include being a member of the Board’s Audit and Finance Committee.
Our Board of Trustees seeks to appoint a new Board Trustee with accountancy expertise.
Key general responsibilities of Board Members are to:
- Provide leadership by articulating and guarding cbm’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
- Contribute strategic leadership by working alongside other Trustees and senior management to develop, engage with and review cbm’s strategic plan, in order to optimise cbm’s performance.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements as a charitable entity.
- Participate in discussion and shared responsibility for decision-making, including reviewing materials submitted by management to the Board and ensuring that the financial structure of cbm New Zealand will adequately support its current needs and long-term strategies.
- Act as an ambassador for cbm and safeguard the good name of cbm.
The Audit and Finance Committee has responsibility for:
- Overseeing the annual budget process and recommending the Budget to the Board.
- Providing expert oversight of monthly financial reporting and forecasting.
- Presentation of Financial Reports to the Board.
- Providing governance and financial oversight of the Board’s Financial affairs, including development and review of policies.
cbm NZ desires to maintain a balanced skills-based Board covering the following domains of governance/kaitiakitanga: leadership; disability inclusion; accounting; legal; organisational development; fundraising; international development; theology of justice and inclusion and not-for-profit management.
The role would suit either a qualified accountant, auditor, or experienced Board treasurer or someone wishing to gain experience in a Board treasurer position. (cbm New Zealand employs a Finance and Operations Director responsible for day-to-day financial management and reporting to the Board).
cbm’s annual operating budget is in the order of $4,000,000.
cbm’s offices are based in Auckland, but Board members are sourced from across Aotearoa New Zealand.
- A Trustee’s term is for three years, renewable.
- The Board meets for one full day four times per year. Board meetings are usually face-to-face in Auckland with an option of virtual meetings / attendance where convenient.
- The Audit and Finance Committee meets three times per year for up to 3 hours, with the option of virtual or face-to-face attendance.
Under the terms of our Board Charter, Board members do not receive remuneration. All reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Provision will be made for reasonable access support to make attendance and participation accessible to Board members with disabilities. cbm will work with candidates to explore how best to meet those needs.

Board of Trustees: Person with Lived Experience to Disability
cbm New Zealand is calling for applications from people with lived experience of disability to join our Board of Trustees. As an international development organisation committed to improving quality of life of people living with disabilities in the poorest communities of the world, we raise funds for quality international programmes impacting up to one million people each year.
As a Trustee of our Board, you will contribute governance experience as well as your perspective on our priorities and practices. Responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership,
- Ensuring legal compliance,
- Acting as an ambassador for cbm,
- Serving on at least one of our four Board Committees.
cbm’s offices are based in Auckland, but Board members contribute from across Aotearoa New Zealand. The Board meets for one full day four times per year. Provision is for disability-related support to make participation accessible. cbm will work with you to explore how best to meet those needs.
