Ways of Giving

cbm offers a number of ways for people to donate to the important work of ensuring all people are included in life.  For your conveinence, you can download a PDF of the different ways of giving so you have it all on one page.

Child Disability Sponsorship

Our Child Disability Sponsorship programme helps children with disabilities in three ways: finding a child hidden away often because of the stigma attached to disability; providing immediate assessment and medical treatment; and providing the child with on going care, such as rehabilitation and education.

When you sign up to our Child Disability Sponsorship programme, you will be introduced to a representative child with disabilities from a cbm project in the developing world for as little as $30 a month - that's about a dollar a day.  You will hear the child’s story about what their life was like before finding the cbm project, and receive regular updates on his or her progress with video updates, emails and mailing.  You will be with the child as they go through medical treatment, rehabilitation and entrance into school and community life.  Their smiles will warm your heart.  cbm helps millions of children with disabilities around the world each year, and this sponsorship programme ensures that we are able to continue that important work of early intervention.

Bequests - Leaving a Legacy

The gift of a lifetime, a bequest, to the work of cbmwill reap a harvest of lives changed forever.  It also enables cbm to help the poorest of the poor.  cbm supporters are extremely generous, but often individual assets are tied up in homes and investments so they cannot help the poorest of the poor as much as they would like to.  The answer is to leave a legacy in one’s will.  Even a small percentage of an estate can make a very substantial difference in the life of a person trapped in disability and poverty.  Sadly many people in New Zealand miss out on that sense of fulfilment because they don’t make a will.  To request an information pack, please contact our Donor Relations Manager.

Payroll Giving

Another regular giving option which cbm has just launched is payroll giving.  In  cooperation with your employer, this option is a voluntary scheme that enables employees to make donations directly from their pay to a chosen organisation.  The scheme is administered through the New Zealand Government Inland Revenue’s PAYE tax system.  If you are interested in setting up payroll giving for your  business, feel free to call our Business Manager today to find out how to get started.

Regular Giving

In addition to the Child Disability Sponsorship programme, cbm accepts regular donations of all amounts.  Donations can be made through your bank by setting up an automatic payment using the direct debit method, or by authorising us to deduct your agreed amount from your credit card over a secure.

General Donation

A general donation can easily be made online, by posted cheque, or by calling 0800 77 22 64 and speaking with one of our Customer Service Representatives.  We also have monthly appeals, each of which focuses on an urgent area of need in our work around the world.  If you would like to receive these appeals, please call the number above or email us at enquiries@cbmi.org.nz.

Gifts of Life

Our Gifts of Life catalogue range consists of truly life changing gifts that will transform the lives of a child, a mother, a father, and even a whole community.  Each gift benefits the life of a person with disabilities in a unique way. This option provides a way for  people to give to a specific area of our work that they feel passionate about.  Many of our supporters use the catalogue for gifts on behalf, Mother's Day,   Father's Day,  birthdays, weddings or any special occasion.

Tax Rebate

All contributions of $5 or more are tax deductible. Receipts should be retained for tax purposes. Receipts are mailed   annually in April to minimize administration and postage costs. As of 1 April 2009 the New Zealand tax laws have recently changed.  Individuals will no longer be restricted to the $1,890 limit for the donations rebate. They will now be able to claim a rebate up to the level of their annual net income. The rebate is calculated as 33% of eligible donations.  If you do not claim this rebate, it will go to the Government, but you can have this rebate sent to cbm to maximise your original donation!  This is a great   opportunity to make your donation go further.
