ThailandEye Department Manorom Christian Clinic
Eye Department of the Manorom Christian Clinic is located in Manorom, Chainat a province in central part of Thailand, 200 km north of Bangkok. Eye care service is provided weekly from Monday to Tuesday at base clinic. A weekly mobile team of three staff provides eye care to poor patients in remote rural district hospitals where no eye doctors are available. The team covers 14 district hospitals per year throughout the country. Community Based Rehabilitation for the Rural Blind
This is an eye care and community based rehabilitation programme run by the Christian Foundation for the Blind (CFBT) in Roi et, Thailand, located about 512 km northeast of Bangkok. It is the first cbm supported CBR project in Thailand. Services such as rehabilitation, vocational training, income generation, family workshops, setting up groups for disabled in villages and non-formal education for blind adults are provided. The project encourages community ownership and participation through development of their community learning centres in local communities. It also works together with other stakeholders such as teachers of day care centres to raise awareness and provide knowledge on disability. The project also provides mobile eye care services which have recently expanded into 6 provinces. The project also serves as a CBR resource training centre for Thai NGOs and government officials as well as for staff of projects in neighbouring countries, namely, China, Laos and Vietnam. |
