Orthopaedic and Rehabilitative Surgery
This mobile orthopaedic surgery programme operates in all provinces of Rwanda. A cbm-supported Rwandese orthopaedic surgeon and his support staff visit four district hospitals around the country where consultations as well as surgery are performed, mainly on children. Most of the cases treated by the project are club feet deformities. In view of the scarcity of suitably qualified specialists in the field of orthopaedics in Rwanda, this project plays a pivotal role in the provision of orthopaedic services around the country and is expected to have a more refined role once the Rwanda National Plan for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation becomes operational.
