For 9 years - after having meningitis - Hamadou has been deaf and has had difficulty speaking. This meant he had virtually no education. He is now part of a programme with cbm partner PRAHN in Niger and, as a result, is the owner of a 'survival yard' (a garden that provides food for his family) in south west Niger. |
In its mission to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities, cbm, with partners, reached more than 25 million people in 2010. |

-
Reaching milestones - In October 2010 cbm supported its 10 millionth cataract operation.
-
Working with communities - cbm's preferred approach in meeting the needs of people with disabilities is to focus on mobilising the community. In addition, 65,055 people with psychosocial problems were helped through our community mental health services.
