cbm Eye Surgeon Produces Cataract Surgery Training DVD
What is cataract? Cataract is the most common cause of blindness in the world. The main focuses of the eradication of this avoidable blindness is surgery. In trained hands, a cataract surgery procedure can safely take less than 10 minutes. However there are still nearly 20 million people in the world blind from cataracts and around 100 million who are severely vision impaired. In many resource-poor parts of the world there is perhaps only one ophthalmologist or cataract surgeon for one million people. This compares with Europe or the USA where there is one eye surgeon for every 50,000 people.
