Conference on disability-inclusive MDGs and aid effectiveness

Conference on disability
On 12th -14th March 2012, the second in a series of global forums on disability jointly organised by Leonard Cheshire Disability and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific will be held at United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, Thailand.

About the conference

The conference will improve understanding of how disability-inclusive development contributes to the full achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It will also help to prepare for the final review of the Second Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, to be conducted in October 2012.

As a platform for exchanging lessons learned, the conference will explore ways to enhance the quality and effectiveness of development cooperation through the inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Bringing together disabled people’s organisations, non-governmental organisations, UN agencies, development practitioners and academics, the conference offers a unique opportunity to develop innovative ways to bring disability into the mainstream of international development.

Panel sessions and workshops will explore good practice and identify effective ways of delivering results that will have empowering and positive impacts on the lives of people with disabilities.
