The Disability and Development Seminar

cbm hosted the inaugural enable seminar in Wellington on December 2, 2008. With a wide range of speakers addressing the topic of “Dignity and Justice for All” the seminar proved a big success.

Speakers challenged delegates on their inclusion of persons with disability in mainstream development work and provided insight into how easily inclusive development can be implemented.

With the Millennium Development Goals now over half way through their target timeframe it was put to delegates that these would not be achieved if disability was not addressed and this was largely accepted by those attending. Practical solutions on inclusion were discussed and delegates left promising to talk with partners and colleagues on implementing these solutions.
