Zita has had fistula since 1985

ZitaOn coming to the house,
they saw the child
with his mother Mary,
and they bowed down
and worshiped him.

Matthew 2:11

Joy to the world’s saddest women.
Set them free from fistula!

Bethlehem had no room for Mary, no midwife and no delivery suite.

Zita’s delivery in Tanzania was like that too.  But Mary’s childbirth brought joy to the whole world. Zita’s produced one of the saddest tragedies a woman can face.

This Christmas please celebrate newness of life for mother and child by giving a whole new life to women with fistula.  Click here to donate.

Illustration Fistula diagramIn 1985 Zita’s baby became stuck during childbirth.  No one knew what to do, so her baby died.  To add tragedy on tragedy, the baby cut the blood supply to the walls of Zita’s urinary tract.

A hole formed. Urine seeped through and flowed out through Zita’s birth canal.  Ceaselessly.

Zita washed herself every hour, scrubbing her skin raw.  Yet whenever she went near other people their noses would instantly crinkle.  ‘People would say “who smells like urine?”’

FistulaCan you imagine?  Embarrassing.  Humiliating.  Heartbreaking.  Since 1985!  If that thought tears at your heart, please click here to add a lonely and downcast woman like Zita to your Christmas list.

Your gift could be $30 to help run a mobile outreach, spreading the message in village squares, churches and on rural radio sets that there is help for women with fistula. (That is how we found Zita).

Or you could donate $65 towards fistula repair surgery at a cbm hospital like CCBRT.  A poverty-stricken woman like Zita could never afford that.  Perhaps you can.

Do you know what else she can do?  Find other women with fistula.

It works like this.  Recently the hospital began equipping women with mobile phones.  Whenever they find a woman with fistula they send a text message to the hospital.  The hospital then texts back a credit for a bus ticket.

Since this mobile phone mission began, the number of women being found has doubled!

Women with fistulaIf only we had mobile phones in 1985, Zita might have been found straight away.  Instead, she suffered for more than twenty years.  Not wanting anyone to smell her or see her leaking uncontrollably onto the ground.  Can you imagine?

Don’t let suffering like this continue. Set a woman like Zita free from fistula for Christmas, by clicking here now to donate.
