What if we hadn’t found Salamatu? Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.Luke 15:4-6 Your gift helps find and heal desperately ill children like Salamatu. Salamatu fell and broke her hip because of osteomyelitis. It sounds like something that might happen to a venerable great-grandmother. Salamatu is fifteen! How did a healthy teenager ever become so frail? When we tell you, we hope you will click to donate and help us find children in dire need like Salamatu. She was poor but happy in her village in Cameroon. School every day was her great hope for a better life. One day she started to feel dizzy. You would probably recognise it as an infection and simply visit the doctor for antibiotics. For Salamatu, though, there was no doctor, nurse or medicine. So her infection spread. The dizzy spells came in wave after wave, until one day she fell to the ground unconscious.Salamatu’s femur, the longest and thickest bone in her body, was so weak from infection it had snapped like a twig. The sharp end of her fracture pierced her skin. Flies descended on her open sore. Her complete lack of access to healthcare turned her mild infection into life-threatening peril. No-one knew how to find help … … so we had to find her instead. cbm workers search through countries such as Cameroon looking for those who are disabled or desperately ill, like Salamatu. The “finding” part of our work is so important and urgently needs your support.
