Urgent appeal for Congo's most vulnerable victims

War drives increased need for help.

Congo_emergency_2_2.jpgcbm’s workers in DR Congo have faced an incredibly difficult task over recent times battling to provide for the needs of a very large number of displaced persons with disability.

These people have been displaced by the violent struggle for control going on around them. As innocent victims of the war many people with disabilities have been left homeless and have had all their possessions taken away by forces on either side of the conflict.

The number of people with disabilities as a result of the conflict is growing all the time.

cbm, working with local partners in DR Congo has been able to provide services throughout the conflict. This is one advantage of working with local partners – we had Congolese nationals on the ground who could stay when others had to move out for their own safety.

In the following links you can read of the situation they face and of the challenges and triumphs they face on a daily basis.
