This photograph of Fouefou is a picture of impossible dreams coming true.

When we found him he was one of the world’s poorest blind children, begging for scraps in the dust of Cameroon.

He had nothing at all, except a dream that had almost died.  Fouefou wanted to go to school.

Blind since birth, Fouefou was barred from school.  His penniless family and impoverished community thought it was ridiculous to waste education on a child with a lifelong disability.

So Fouefou did what poor blind children have always done.  He sat in the dust and begged.

That is how we found him.  cbm supporters funded an outreach programme in Cameroon to find children like Fouefou.

We enrolled him at St. Joseph’s, a school for blind children funded by cbm supporters.   Fouefou’s impossible dream came true.

Over the last four years Fouefou has developed remarkable skills in typing, reading, writing, languages and science. 

When he goes home for the holidays he is no longer regarded as an outcast beggar unworthy of schooling. 
"My friends now respect me.  They ask me to do their school work!"

It is astonishing how far Fouefou has come with the help of cbm supporters.

In fact, cbm supporters are now touching the lives of 26 million people like Fouefou each year!

Yet in a world in which a billion people have disabilities, there are still so many children whose dreams will remain utterly impossible without your help.
