Ben is the sweetest little boy in Cameroon, but just when he was learning how to make friends and play games, cataracts started growing in his eyes.

First the faces of his new friends became blurry.  Soon he could no longer recognise his mother Meldine.  Finally Ben could not see at all.

“He doesn't understand what’s happened,” Meldine said.  “ He's very scared.”

Not in her wildest dreams could she ever afford eye surgery for her son.

Today, please give a desperate mother the chance to sing and dance for joy.  Celebrate
World Sight Day by donating here to give sight back to a blind child like Ben, through the miracle of
cataract surgery.

Without sight Ben was in grave danger from the trucks and motorbikes rushing past their
little hut.  Meldine could not turn away for an instant or Ben could be injured or killed.

For safety, Ben clung to her back for hours on end. 

How can a mother possibly earn a living like this?  Ben’s blindness has driven the whole
family into the deepest poverty, as disability so often does. 

Then suddenly hope dawned for Ben.  A cbm worker named Joseph came to their church and shared some incredible news:  cataract surgery is available for free thanks to our amazing cbm supporters.

By donating a gift of $230 you could pay for a child’s entire operation.  This includes the general anaesthetic and comprehensive after-care a child needs.

You can set an adult free from cataract blindness by giving $35.  Isn’t that amazing?  The gift of sight for a lifetime, for just $35 each!

You can also bless a surgical ward with a gift of $25 for medical supplies, such as the bandages and
eye patches for Ben to wear overnight.

With a $50 donation, you can help field workers like Joseph take the incredible news far and wide that
cataract surgery is available free thanks to cbm supporters.

When a blind child’s eyes are opened, it opens up their entire life.  When Ben can see, he’ll be able to play, make friends and go to school.  He will be able to see his beloved mother again.  What a miracle!
