Blind Dining 2011

14 & 20 November 2011 | Euro Bar and Restaurant | Auckland

What participants say:

“I think the blind dining experience is a wonderful idea. It provides an understanding of what it is like to live with a disability and benefits the great work of cbm."

“It took us completely out of our comfort zone but, at the same time, was a very enjoyable evening. We are very familiar with Euro and the meal was beautiful, as always, but it is a very different experience to taste food that you cannot see. You just have to trust people, and we felt very well looked after at all times.”

A little aftertaste to the stunning meal which was served on cbm's Blind Dining at Euro:

Unforgettable moments...

EuroJuly2011_Simon Gault

Masterchef Judge Simon Gault had reserved Euro, one of New Zealand’s finest restaurants for an amazing cbm fundraising experience called Blind Dining.

At Simon’s own Euro Restaurant and Bar on Princes Wharf, guests were blindfolded on entry.  Being without sight for the evening gave them a small window into the experience of living with a life-altering disability.

Over the two evenings, 50 blindfolded diners experienced a unique three-course meal specially designed by Simon and his expert team to entertain the diners’ senses.

An incredibly unique experience designed around the finest food and drink in Auckland’s premier location.

All in support of
cbm's life changing work.

Blind Dining Fundraising Purpose

For participants Blind Dining was an opportunity to build an empathy with the issue of blindness and then reflect on what it would mean to also live in poverty.

By buying a ticket guests supported the work of cbm with a donation of $50. The money raised from the charity event will go towards stopping disabled children’s needless suffering in countries such as Africa, Asia and South America.

Between the main course and the dessert an audio play has been played which introduced cbm's Child Disability Sponsorship Programme and took the blindfolded guests into the heart and mind of a father who despairs for his beautiful but disabled daughter Justine.

By only giving $1 a day cbm Child Disability Sponsors can help the most vulnerable children of all living in the poorest countries of the world.
