Enable 08 - The Disability and Development Seminar
Enable 08
The Disability and
Development Seminar
On December 2, 2008 the inaugural 'enable'
world’s Millennium Goals for poverty and
development will be impossible without
addressing the issue of disability.
10% of the world’s population lives with
disability. Of those 650 million people, 80% live
in the developing world. They are consistently
over-represented among the world’s most
Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD),
it is now widely acknowledged that genuinely
inclusive development cannot happen until
INGOs and development organisations address
the issue of disability.
A wide range of NGO’s and local organisations
attended and evaluated their response to the issue of disability in the context of development.
This year’s theme was Justice for All.
