Christian We believe that our primary purpose can only be achieved through dependency on God. We value all people as equals before God. We believe that should reflect the teaching and example of Jesus Christ in our day-to-day relationships, activities and decision making. As part of the worldwide Christian Fellowship, cbm places emphasis on its role in the Christian social ministry and will endeavour to work with churches and local Christian partners wherever possible. We believe that the local church is best placed to know how to evangelise and preach the word. 2. Inclusive We advocate for the inclusion of people with disability as equals in all aspects of society. We believe that people with disability have the same rights as others to health care, education, and livelihoods. We seek to provide services for people with sensory, motor and/or mental impairments. We promote the prevention of the causes of disability as a priority. 3. Services We work through partners. We emphasise community-focused approaches. Our work is of such nature that it will contribute to sustainability and self-reliance. We use our human, financial, and technical resources to optimise the impact of our work on as many people as possible. We provide services for people regardless of race, religion, nationality and gender. 4. International We aspire to be a global organisation, making optimum use of international human and financial resources, in all aspects of our work. 5. Partners Wherever possible we work through partner agencies, Christian, secular and governmental. We seek to enable our partners to provide high quality preventive, curative, educational and rehabilitative services in order to maximise the quality of life of an increasing proportion of people with disabilities and those at risk of disability, so that they ultimately become self-sufficient in human and financial resources. 6. Professionalism We will implement effective and efficient practice in all aspects of our work, through qualified and competent experts. We offer equal opportunities for employment and career development consistent with our beliefs and values. We will provide continual training and professional development for staff. We encourage innovation, initiative, prudent risk taking and decisiveness in order to achieve our vision and goals. 7. Integrity We will act with integrity towards all individuals. We are good stewards and seek to be accountable to donors and clients of the resources entrusted to us. We have high standards of financial control that are transparent and verifiable. 8. Communication We value clear, honest, respectful and transparent communication between all stakeholders both inside and outside cbm. We value diversity, seeking to have an attitude of mutual respect for other cultures and opinions, among all our stake holders. |
